Plasmon Migratie Plasmon




Plasmon UDO In Nederland is Amitron exclusief gespecialiseerd en verantwoordelijk voor o.a. het leveren van full service op Plasmon apparatuur. Dienstverlening zoals bijvoorbeeld een migratie hoort daar ook bij. Information Lifecycle Management is waar wij voor staan.

Verschillende klanten zijn u al voor gegaan met een vergelijkbare data migratie. Hier heeft Amitron haar kennis opgebouwd t.a.v. het migreren van Plasmon data naar nieuwe electronische archieven zoals een SAN, NAS, CAS of offline media. Amitron heeft ook ervaring in het migreren van CAS data uit bijvoorbeeld een EMC Centera naar bijvoorbeeld een Network Appliance of HP archief.

Geconstateerd is dat met standaard tools een migratie de onderstaande kenmerken heeft;

    1. Een lage migratie performance. Ronduit Traag . Dit mede door de gebruikte datamover zoals Diskxtender.
    2. Lage performance en beschikbaarheid van de opgeslagen PACS beelden en rapportages daar er gemigreerd wordt.
    3. Veel klachten van gebruikers die niet weten waar hun data staat of er niet bij kunnen.
    4. Een zeer lange doorlooptijd. Er zijn ons migraties bekend waarbij 4 TB aan PACS beelden migreren circa 1,5 jaar geduurd heeft.

Begin 2008 wilde Amitron aan deze problematiek een halt toe roepen. Onze ervaringen hebben wij besproken met diverse leveranciers van software en storage apparatuur. Samen met deze leveranciers is een oplossing ontwikkeld, waarbij een migratie van 4 tot 10 TB in 2 weken opgeleverd wordt op het nieuwe archief. Dit alles ongeacht welk PACS, Datamover of Archiefsysteem gebruikt wordt. Begin 2009 was de Amitron File Migratie Suite gereed en inmiddels al vele malen met succes toegepast. Volledig merk onafhankelijk migreren van data op een platform is mogelijk met de Amitron File Migratie Suite.

De oplossing is het in lezen van het Filesystem op het te migreren archief. Dit filesystem wordt vervolgens geinstalleerd op het nieuwe archief waarna de data eenvoudig gekopieerd wordt van oud naar het nieuwe archief. Dit is een proces van circa 2 weken.

Wat wij u kunnen bieden met de Amitron File Migratie Suite (AFMS):

  • Een analyse waarmee inzichtelijk gemaakt wordt welke data gemigreerd moet worden
  • Het migratieplan en uitvoering van Plasmon naar Centera of welk ander medium
  • Verificatie van de gemigreerde data a.d.h.v. een rapportage

Hiermee bereikt u een snelle doorlooptijd, een lage investering in migratie uren en 100 % beschikbaarheid van de data tijdens de migratie waardoor de specialisten en radiologen geen onderbreking ondervinden in hun bedrijfsproces.

Amitron File Migration Suite

The Amitron File Migration Suite (AFMS) comprises of three tools - "AnalyzeIT", "MigrateIT" and "VerifyIT". This suite of tools enables the user to reliably audit their file storage and efficiently migrate unstructured data from Legato DiskXtender and Plasmon Diamond Library Mananger to any UNC supporting the Windows NT file system semantics.

AnalyzeIT

AnalyzeIT is the first stage in the migration process. It scans all relevant media and file information to determine the file and media inventory and reports any configuration problems that may hinder the subsequent data migration. AnalyzeIT will generate a concise summary report and itemise any issues that may affect the subsequent migration process.

  • Organises file inventory by media side
  • Sorts file inventory in ascending order as stored on media to allow for fast recall
  • Provides full media inventory, including off-line media, in preparation for the migration planning
  • Identifies any potential issues with recalling files prior to actually running the migration
  • Produces a clear and concise summary report


MigrateIT

MigrateIT is the second stage in the migration process. It takes the output of a successful AnalyzeIT file and media audit and moves the data to a UNC destination.

MigrateIT balances the load to ensure the system resources are utilised to optimal effect whilst allowing live access to the data during the migration if required. MigrateIT is fully robust to unexpected power cuts and system reboots and will 'self-heal' from any corruption to its system files as a result.

An important feature of MigrateIT is the ability to map files and folders on the source file system to new locations on the target. This can be an invaluable feature if the migration is part of a storage rationalisation.

  • Balancing of load to ensure optimal use of optical drives
  • Minimal disruption to end user by keeping optical drives available to the user and ensuring a pre-set amount of free storage space on the extend drive (resource provisioning)

VerifyIT

VerifyIT is the final stage in the FMS migration process. It provides independent confirmation that the data migrated during the MigrateIT phase is correctly stored on the target storage. It does this in two phases by firstly comparing the AnalyzeIT inventory and MigrateIT journal files and secondly checking that all of the files in the inventory exist on the target file system.

AnalyzeIT for Enterprise

AnalyzeIT-EP is a powerful tool for analyzing the content of any file system and presenting the results in an easy to follow graphical form. AnalyzeIT gives you an easy graphical way to query the file system to determine exactly where your valuable storage resources are being used. AnalyzeIT can query the file system on a number of different criteria, including modification time, access time, file type and file attributes.

AnalyzeIT-EP can be used as part of the Perpetual Data File Migration Suite. It provides an extended querying capability to the AnalyzeIT part of FMS and allows a subset of your data to be migrated based on the various AnalyzeIT-EP criteria.

AnalyzeIT has a powerful costing capability that allow you to easily determine the costs of storing the various file types on your storage. This is an invaluable facility for storage consultants wishing to illustrate the benefits of moving data to a new storage system or for the IT manager to get a clear picture of where his IT budget is begin spent.
